Although best known for his highly rated original television series on Outdoor Channel — SHOOTING GALLERY, THE BEST DEFENSE, GUN STORIES, RAPID FIRE, COWBOYS — Michael Bane has been active in competitive shooting and training for decades. He co-wrote the first training book for practical competition, You Can’t Miss, with IPSC World Champion John Shaw and the landmark The Combat .45 Auto with master gunsmith Bill Wilson in the 1980s. Bane was active in the launch of both USPSA and IDPA and worked in the creation of the National Range Officer Institute. SHOOTING GALLERY is the most successful long-running shooting show ever; THE BEST DEFENSE, hosted by Bane, Michael Janich and Mike Seeklander, has had a profound effect on firearms training in the United States.
