In this segment from INSIDE STORY: The Warfighters, Kyle Harth, Aaron Barruga (Guerrilla Approach) and Robert Keller (Gamut Resolutions) are posed the question, “What kind of experience should an instructor have to teach what they teach? Should a former soldier teach concealed carry and the former cop teach clearing rooms and CQB?”
Special thanks to the staff of Bourbon Columbia for their hospitality as well as their special blend of Angel’s Envy bourbon that helped smooth the way for the questions and answers.
Timothy Lyons –
Good points from the Warfighters crew… there are a lot of great instructors out there, but make sure they’re teaching within their area of expertise. Myself, for example, I specialize on introducing new shooters to firearms, across pistol, rifle, and shotgun. I’ll give them the basics and then refer them to someone more specialized should they decide they want to get more into tactical shooting, or competition shooting. Can I do it? Sure, but there’s definitely people who do it better!
